Pudding's Month - January

And how can you not share this bundle of gorgeousness.

I know it's almost time for her 5th month picture, but I thought I'd do a catch up. It's been a bumpy month: sleep regressions, not wanting to feed in strange places, trying out her cot and not being impressed, but it's also been a month of growing and discovering.

She is still the Weans' favourite plaything and she's beginning to be able to interact with them more, to take toys from them, laugh at their silliness, nibble on any part of them they put too close to her mouth.

Captain Mouse fights the Dread Pirate Pudding. To the drool.

She no longer likes her bouncer very much as she can't sit up and reach things, so we've started using the high chair, with a lot of padding. We won't start her on food for a bit yet, but she's playing with spoons and things while we eat, so is learning by watching and experimenting. I have already picked up her spoon about a million times in the last week. Strangely enough, I'm still looking forward to weaning.

So before she hits her 5 month milestone, here's a wee smile from Pudding 4 months old and ready for everything.

Mulling Over Blogging

I've been pondering the past week about my blogging. I suppose most people who blog about their own lives come up against this question some time or another. It's mainly about my children, do I want to expose them and so much of their lives to the big bad world? My Facebook is on private, my Instagram is on private as is my photo storage, but my blog is public.

I do keep our names out of the blog and I have recently taken down photos of the new house. I don't post pictures of other people's children, I try not to post pictures that are intimate or inappropriate.

I suppose someday my children will stop posing, will ask me to stop putting up their photos. And I will respect their wishes, of course. But the internet remembers everything. Will they be upset as adults to see their childhood come up on random searches, will they cringe that they will be able to trace their first steps via the net or that anyone can see photos of themselves acting silly age 3?

I don't know.

This blog was mainly set up for foreign friends and relatives to keep track of our life in Finland. A way for me to share photos and stories of our big adventure. I know other people stumble upon the site. I don't know who they are and how or why they came or if they ever come back. I liked the idea at one point that people would see this site as a guide to living abroad with a family, find it helpful or inspiring. But I have no idea if anyone does.

I don't know how I feel about strangers seeing our lives. Like I said I'm pondering. I still don't know where I stand.

In the meantime, I guess I will continue on, talking to myself and to faceless strangers, sharing our lives. I hope it brightens your day, if only for a moment.

Phone Photos Catch-Up Summer to Winter 2013

I finally got around to clearing the photos off my pitiful phone as it's running out of memory space. But now I have 200+ photos that I need to sort. So I thought I'd share some of them. Some were taken by Foo or Mouse, both love taking photos, Foo especially. Lots of totally random photos coming up. Forgive the quality, my phone as a camera works best outside in brilliant light, otherwise it's rather crap. But some of them you just have to love for the pure joy in them, of the kids, the landscape, the moment.

Hope you're surviving winter. After an unusually long delay it has finally showed up in Finland. The kids love it. I'm muddling along as usual, adjusting my schedule to include 2 extra layers of clothes x4 kids, using the slow cooker as often as I can, grumping about the cold and snow too much. Only 4 more months to go.
